Her Fitness Box April 2014 (received June)

Another two months behind schedule it's Her Fitness Box April- received in JUNE!

I initially subscribed for 3 months and this is my third and final. Obviously from that you can tell I'm a disappointed customer as I will not be resubscribing again. Ever. See review 1 & 2 if your keen to see what was in the first two boxes.

As my bf would say hershitnessbox and it is. Yet again. So disappointed. As a softballer, I'm going with the three stikes & your out rule.

So anyway let me show you what was in it- let me say- in fairness, there is some good bits too- just a few misses & not enough value making it a bit of a rip off.

April box arrived on 4th June- looked like this in satchel:

This months box (actually not a box but a bag). I quite like this months bag design, its really pretty in real life- it's a white calico bag with the design printed on the fabric.

The spread:

Breakdown by item:

The cards:

  • Recipe Card:
Last month I didn't get a recipe card but it looks like hfb is doing them again:
We are such chocolate faces in our house so I'll give the raw chocolate recipe a go for sure.

  • The fitness card:

Anyone else got dejavu?

Bridges and lunges again?! Are you serious?! I get that it's a slight variation but puhlease! You can't even come up with 2 exercises per month and not double up within 3 months!? PATHETIC! I could give you at least a dozen and I am in no way gym junkie. Ffs.

The resistance band info is greatly appreciated and I really like that it coordinates with the fitness accessory & teaches you how you can use it. kudos hfb.

  • 4 page nutritional guide rrrp $10.95- it's literally 4 recipes- breaky lunch dinner- 1 day eating guide printed on paper and stapled rrrp $10.95 is absurd.

Fitness accessories:
  • Sweat bands (not a typo) rrrp $20
  • Resistance band rrrp $14.95

Ok so it's not the 70's- NOBODY is hitting the gym nor pounding the pavement with this shit on their heads.
Cheap. Nasty. Redundant.
If the wrist bands had a zip or something I could see why it would be valuable but it's doesn't. What are they thinking. And claiming it's worth $20. Get stuffed. This is pointless filler crap. I think that very few people will actually love these. I could be wrong... the quality is ghastly.
I'd love to know in the comments section what other subscribers thought of the sweat set?

I got 2 wristbands from cotton on body for $4.95 and they are far better quality, softer, better looking.
I'll find them and add a picture here... Yep

The resistance band is actually quite good! I'm super happy to have it as I'm trying to increase my flexibility for polefit. I recently bought an equally good one on eBay last month for under $5.00 though so claiming $14.95 cost when it came in a clear plastic unbranded sleeve just like my eBay one seems a bit like hooey to me.

The 'deluxe' samples:
  • White glo tooth paste rrrp $4.99- full sized- happy with that even though not fitness related. Also had toothpaste in box 2.
  • Vital green single serve rrrp $1.40 - not quite deluxe? I do enjoy adding these types of products to smoothies so it should be good to try
  • Luv Sum- super berry nut crunch rrrp $3.60. a bit like a bounce ball- YUM
  • H2Coco Coconut Water $2.95- not bad, but again a repeat- we had a coconut water in box 1.

The usual promo stuff that they include:
- $10 voucher for Atleta Active- *edit 6/6* just realised it expired 31/5- box came on 4/6 ...bummer was going to have a look-see
- $30 Hello fresh- been meaning to try them so I will use this, also fyi 'the iconic' is giving these out at the moment if you shop there
- Info on white glow toothpaste
Highlight: lov som ball
Lowlight: sweat set

Does this even look like $40 worth? Looking at it I wanna say IS THAT ALL!?!
hmm the value on the card is $73.70 but the inflated prices on the sweat band, booklet and resistance band bring that total down.
Not in my opinion. I feel pretty well ripped off. The concept is a good one however hfb put cheap crap in their boxes and do not deliver on the value promised. To be honest I've had better value in my other subscription boxes and they are half the price.
The thing that has probably made hfb box so frustrating is that they change their website to suit what they are doing. For example- When I first subscribed the value was listed as 'over $110' I was under the impression that that is what I was paying for and would be what I could expect each month. But here I am getting $73.70 as told by them.
You can't get people to join under the proviso that they will get $110 value and then remove it from your website so you don't have to honor it!
That is so unfair and so wrong!
I basically feel I've been duped by a false advertising scam.
Here it is- in black and white- $110 value- that's what I signed up for and not what was then delivered.

Essentially my 3 month $100 subscription bought me 3 bags of promo material and a few cheap rubbish accessories.

If they put good quality items the box would have been much better.

So thats that! Hfb 3 month subby done and dusted. To sum it up- late, poor quality, lacking substance.

What do you think? Are you a hfb subscriber? Does this box look like value to you? Am I perhaps being a little unreasonable? What's your 2c??

Her fitness box March 2014

So... I'm quite aware it is MAY not March- but after much delays and a series of unfortunate drama I have a box at last! Due mid March my package arrived on 9th May.

Reasons for March delay:
-Her Fashion/fitness moved office (give 'em a break- imagine moving your workplace)
-The tote was delayed (when suppliers let you down it sucks)

There was a bit of hoopla because hfb took too long to inform subscribers and there was mixed information released about what was happening- at one point they said the bags were ready to go, then 2 weeks later the story was the bags were delays- oops hfb. This fauxpa made them look like pants on fire.

An email was sent appologising for delays- however I did not receive this.

It got to May, I saw others on social media had received their packages and nothing came so I decided to get intouch with HFB. Let me just say they were really appologetic, prompt and helpful- big kudos to them for that.
Unfortunately somehow my details didn't transfer to their new system and therefore my order got missed (I purchased a 3mth subscription rather than a recurring one).
They informed me that one sample was out of stock and it would be replaced with an extra tea sachet and a strainer- no worries.
They let me know when it was packed up and sent me a tracker. After a few days nothing came and I tracked the parcel- it was delivered to somewhere is QLD! Again hfb were really appologetic and a new parcel was shipped- FINALLY IT MADE IT!

So that's the series of unfortunate events- really not anyone's fault- just a bit disappointing as a customer and frustrating for them as business. On a plus the April (also super late now) will arrive before we know it.

Alrighty- now you've got the lowdown on why is March in May- let's look at the contents

Her Fitness Box March 2014

This months box is a bag- I find these canvas totes ever handy- I'm always running out the door, they're perfect for the old scoop, toss and go. And green. They say rrrp $20- hmmm not sure about that but it is thicker caleco than last time.

The cards:

The fitness accessories are:

 - sweat towel ($15) this is pretty cheap rubbish, it's really thin and poorly finished around the edges. I have a same size but thicker microfiber cotton-on towel that came with a drink bottle that was rrrp $14.95 for both.
The difference:

- shaker ($15) again not great, my shaker lid has a warpped little bit in the flip lid so it doesn't seal properly- leaks when you shake it. Again the value is an outright fib. You can get a Bsc 'body' shaker with a sachet of protien powder in it for $4.99 at Priceline and...it's pink. I could buy three shakers/ three meals for said $15.

This is them...what would you rather?

And the rest of the contents:

- Muesli for me I look forward to trying this, it's a good concept a bit of a design your own muesli type deal. I will let you know what it's like in the comments section

- 2x detox tea samples I love tea, perfect for settling the tum- this will make a delightful post dinner bevy. I will let you know what it's like in the comments section.

- Slim fit & fab bar last months bar was delicious- this has big shoes to fill the flavor sounds tasty. Its a peabt choc combo...NOM, I will let you know what it's like in the comments section.

- exfoliating mitts not really fitness related but always handy for sloughing away dry winter skin

- white glo toothpaste mini perfect size for the gym bag

- foot file again not really much to do with fitness but good for banishing dry cracked heels

There was supposed to be Caltrate samples it they ran out hence I got 2x tea sachets. To be honest I couldn't give a crap about Caltrate tablets so I'd rather the extra tea in the end.

And...
Hfb added a 'sorry about everything that's happened' gift for me which was super nice of them...along with a handwritten note which was appreciated.

-A yoga mat
- sugar scrub

As I said, I appreciated the gesture to make things right. I've seen this scrub and looks pretty good. And the Yoga Matt will be handy.

Overall (to be fair- sans the bonus sorry stuff), the monthly box was ok- not great. I'd be keen to hear what other subscribers think?

The main Neg: I REALLY object to claims that the items are worth more than they are. This is my 2nd HFB, see my 1st click here. Neither have been amazing. This one feels really chucked together.

For $39 per month the fitness bag/ box isn't really doing it for me. It's not fitsprational, it doesn't get me pumped to hit the gym and the collection of products don't really make sense. I'd love to see this great concept become much better in execution- the potential is there.

Would I recommend to a friend: in a word no.

I'd love to hear your thoughts.
What Themes would you like to see HFB do?! Pick a theme and tell me 3 things you'd put in to make it work.

Her Fitness Box Feb 2014 (box launch)

So you all know by now I'm a Bellabox Junkie! I love a good subscription box! Lately I've been trying to eat cleaner, exercise more and be all in all a healthier human... not too excessively because I haven't that much resolve! So I subscribed the  the new Her Fitness box  by the people who make her fashion box.
The concept is you pay $39.95 per month as a subscription and you receive a curated box containing:
  • 2 x Fitness accessories
  • 4 x Health and Lifestyle deluxe samples
  • a collectable box (at time i subscribed it said collectable tote)
  • and some exercise tips, recipes etc.
They claim the box contents will be Over $110 of value, no contracts - cancel anytime.
I opted for a three month subscription to try it out. So I guess this blog is 1 of 3.  I was really excited about this as February 2014 is the launch of this new subscription box on the market. It is the first of its kind in Australia.

the BOX:

the CONTENTS:

  • Skipping rope
  • Cantik Notebook
  • Emma & Toms life bar
  • Green Smoothie Co. single sachet
  • Jt Coconut essence 330ml (coconut water)
  • Norbu sweetener sample (4 sweetener sachets)
  • Coupon for Brasilfit $30 off if you spend $130
  • 1 week pass 'anytime fitness
  • Recipe card
  • Workout card
More info:
  • Skipping rope
Valued at $17.95 on the HFB card, maybe not- one of the end caps fell off. I put it back on but its loose, will superglue- no drama. In a word useful. I used to love to skip as a child so I'll head to a park and give it a go. Good cardio.

  • Cantik Notebook
Nice but Meh. yes its pretty, I didn't get what it has to do with fitness but its 'a food diary and to track your progress'. but its blank. They say $19.95. And that they put lots of effort into making sure the products were so great for their subscribers. Well, Kikki K do a great one cheaper at $16.95 here and its at least specifically designed for Food and exercise as well as inspiration. There's lots of similar products that actually fit the purpose this one is supposed. Also you cant clip a pen to this so its not ideal to tote to the gym.

  • Emma & Toms life bar
I'm looking forward to trying this. I love on the go snacks that are yummy & healthy. Cacao & Coconut- match made in heaven. I'm going to enjoy this in the car for breaky tomorrow. Sydney traffic beep beep!

  • Green Smoothie Co. single sachet
  • Jt Coconut essence 330ml (coconut water)
I'm putting these together as the recipe card has a recipe that uses these together to make a smoothie. I LOVE this concept. I will 100% make the smoothie as per instructions. I am curious as to what's in the smoothie as there is no ingredients listing... are they allowed to do that on consumables? ah who cares> yum yum yum can't wait!

  • Norbu sweetener sample (4 sweetener sachets)
Again Looking forward to road testing this product. We use sweetener instead of sugar in our household, we currently use Natvia which incidentally is from the same brand. I would like to make one comment though> 4 serve sachets does not a 'deluxe' sample make.

Ok that's it for actual product>Next: Cards

  • Coupon for Brasilfit $30 off if you spend $130
whatever... just promo crap. I refuse to spend $119 on leggings. Call me cheap. Call me tight. I am Scottish (background) after all. I am happy with my $24.95 Cotton on tights. Mine are good quality and come in nice fabric. They've really lifted their game. I won't use this, so if there's anyone out there that will, I will post it to you, just comment below xxx. I promise I wont act like I gave you a $30 gift.
  • 1 week pass 'anytime fitness'
I already am a Fitness first member but I might check out anytime to see the difference and its marginally closer to my house. Note: if you too want a week trial just go here they give them out like lollipops to anyone. No promo card needed. FREE TRIAL- you are welcome xxx.

  • Recipe card
  • Workout card
Nice touch HFB! These cards are quite handy and I love the recipes. As above I LOVE that the recipes apply to products IN the box. SMART!
At first I thought explaining how to do a squat was redundant considering this boxes focus audience but I can see the value as proper form is key to getting where you want to go with exercise.

Bang for your Buck:
In a word NO. To be honest I felt pretty miffed and ripped off with this box. As you know from my Bellabox reviews I love debunking the value myth and showing those cheapskate haters what's what. As much as I want to love it, I just can't do that here.
  • Skipping rope:$17.95
  • Cantik Notebook:they say $19.95 (its just a blank page hard cover notebook)
  • Emma & Toms life bar $2.85 at woolies
  • Green Smoothie Co. single sachet $3.00 ($15 for pack of 5)
  • Jt Coconut essence 330ml (coconut water) $2.95
  • Norbu sweetener sample $0.43c (4x sachets) $4.35 for 40 sachets at woollies
total:
$47.13
So I emailed HFB to see what's up! They advertise $110 worth of value!

Then I was told to include:
  • Coupon for Brasilfit $30 off (umm only if you spend $130)
  • 1 week pass 'anytime fitness': $25 (average $59 per month so really $15!) (but actually free on Anytime website)
What a joke. Since when was a coupon considered box content?
As I said I contacted the company and they have been nothing but pleasant, fast to respond & helpful 100%. I do not wish to discredit them. They just fail to see validity in the point that coupons should not be counted towards the total value of the box. They are claiming that the coupons represent $55 of the $110 value. Its cross promo PR crap! Those relationships usually work that company A puts an offer out to company B's clientele and or vice versa- they benefit by reaching a new market of each others clients and get sales or members as a result. That's fine, I love a little promo material/ junk mail but don't wrap it in a bow & respond to me that its 'vouchers hand picked to be relevant to the subscribers' and 'they believe it is beneficial and valuable to all of their subscribers'. Your having a lend?

HFB maintain they are proud of the range of health living and fitness goodies. Of the stuff that's in the box, I tend to agree. I was happy with what was in the box there just wasn't enough of it! In my humble opinion it isn't in line with what they say your getting.

I wondered if I was being unreasonable. I looked to see if there was other feedback. So I watched a vid of what the bloggers were given to write about at launch vid here she got what I got (what subscribers got) PLUS:
A tote
A tanning mit
a full size bondi sands tan
a 'babe scrub'
a single serve muesli
a tooth paste mini
a mini hand cream
a hair/ body oil mini

That's just poor form. The bloggers are spruiking a box that is NOT what real paying subscribers get. Not cool. And not fair to the blogger who is telling people their getting more than they are. As bloggers we try and show both sides and perspective.

This sort of disrespect to the customer really ticks me off. As customers we are savvy and deserve to get what we pay for. Half a box value made of coupons. No deal.

Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored blog. Box was subscribed to on my own accord.

HFB we're shocked by my negative feedback. What do you think? Seeing my box, would you subscribe? Seeing what the other blogger got, would you? Am I being unreasonable? Am I being unfair? Comment Below!!
